Jill Gibson
Director
Jill Gibson currently serves as the Director for the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. Ms. Gibson received an MA in Secondary Education from West Virginia University in 2009. After teaching English in Monongalia county for many years, she attended WVU Law where she graduated in 2019 with her JD.
Steven Smith
Assistant Director
Steve Smith joined the staff as Assistant Director in the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities in 2018. His professional background is in Student Conduct, Residential Life, and Title IX. Steve holds a Masters of Education from Northeastern University, an MBA from Youngstown State University, and a Bachelors degree from Temple University.
Marion Holmes
Assistant Director
Marion Holmes joined the staff of Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities in 2022. Prior, Marion had served as the Assistant Director, Associate Director, and Director of the Adventure WV program here at WVU. Marion Holmes got her Master's of Science in Kinesiology from the University of New Hampshire and a Bachelor's Degree in the History of Science from Harvard University. Marion adjudicates instances of student and student organization misconduct and designs educational programs for students and groups who are going through the conduct process.
Heather Yates
Case Manager, Student Rights and Academic Integrity
Heather joined the staff as a Program Coordinator in the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities in Fall 2020 and switched roles to become the Case Manager, Student Rights and Academic Integrity in Spring 2022. She has an extensive background in social services, advocacy and the juvenile court system, which included 10 years as the Executive Director of CASA of Beaver County, PA. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
Daniel Swiger
Senior Internal Investigator
Daniel “Danny” Swiger joined WVU as an Investigator in July of 2017. Danny conducts investigations in response to complaints made to the Office of Equity Assurance and the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities concerning reported violations of Board of Governor’s Rule 1.6. Danny strives to conduct professional and equitable investigations to have a positive impact on the entire West Virginia University Community.
Molly Superfesky
Internal Investigator
Molly joined the staff at the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities in June of 2022 as an Internal Investigator for Title IX and BOG Rule 1.6 violations. She has worked at WVU for twenty-three (23) years. She is a long time resident of Morgantown and a graduate of WVU where she received her undergraduate degree, a Masters of Public Administration and a JD from WVU College of Law.
Ashlyn Courtney
Interim Program Coordinator
Ashlyn came to our office as a Graduate Assistant in Spring 2022. She graduated from West Virginia University with both her Bachelor of Criminology Degree and a Master of Public Administration Degree. Ashlyn continued working with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities shortly after graduation. She currently serves as an Interim Program Coordinator handling various responsibilities throughout the office and managing Title IX and BOG Rule 1.6 Incidents.
